St. Louis County

  • Maryland Heights — about 10 minutes, 6 miles. Shift work and rotating schedules, and why headache frequency tracks the body clock.
  • Olivette — about 17 minutes, 8 miles. The short list of warning features that separates a dangerous headache from the rest, and why most people do not need a scan.
  • Creve Coeur — about 17 minutes, 10.8 miles. Three or four failed preventives, which is rarely the end of the list.
  • Frontenac — about 19 minutes, 12.4 miles. Dizziness with headache, which is usually vestibular migraine rather than the ear.
  • Des Peres — about 20 minutes, 13.6 miles. Cluster headache, which is not a bad migraine and is usually diagnosed years late.
  • Town and Country — about 20 minutes, 13.7 miles. Hormonal migraine, and why the drop in estrogen matters more than the level.
  • Ladue — about 22 minutes, 11.1 miles. A new headache after fifty, which is a different question from an old one.
  • Manchester — about 24 minutes, 15.1 miles. Headache that has outlasted a concussion by more than three months.
  • Kirkwood — about 25 minutes, 16.2 miles. Headache with jaw or ear pain after the dentist and the ear specialist found nothing.
  • Chesterfield — about 26 minutes, 17.4 miles. Blood pressure and headache, and which way the link usually runs.
  • Ballwin — about 29 minutes, 18.1 miles. Stress headache, and why “it is stress” does not mean “it is not real.”
  • Clarkson Valley — about 30 minutes, 20.2 miles. New daily persistent headache: the one that started on a day you can name and never stopped.

St. Charles County

  • St. Charles — about 13 minutes, 7.4 miles. Sinus headache that is really migraine, which is most of it.
  • St. Peters — about 22 minutes, 14.7 miles. Chronic migraine, and why fifteen headache days a month changes the treatment.
  • Cottleville — about 24 minutes, 15.8 miles. Migraine in teenagers, which gets called stress or screens for years.
  • O’Fallon — about 25 minutes, 17.9 miles. Caffeine, which treats headache and causes it.
  • Weldon Spring — about 27 minutes, 18.5 miles. Headache that starts at the base of the skull and is coming from the neck.
  • Dardenne Prairie — about 31 minutes, 21.2 miles. What to bring so a thirty-minute drive is not wasted on the first visit.

Times are ordinary off-peak drives. Add real weight at rush hour, and more if you are driving yourself home during an attack, which is a good reason to bring someone.

One office, not a network

Every town page describes the same practice at the same address. There is no satellite office, and listing a town is not a claim that we are in it.

The drive earns its place only if you get something here you would not get closer to home. St. Louis is well supplied with headache neurology, and if the diagnosis is still unsettled that is the right first stop. What this clinic adds comes after that: the cervical examination and the image-guided nerve blocks, once the diagnosis is settled and two or more preventives have failed. Headache specialist or neurologist? sets out the difference, and the St. Louis clinic page covers the building, parking and access.

Before you make the drive

A headache workup is mostly history, so the first visit is only as good as what you bring to it. Two weeks of a headache diary does more for that hour than a scan you already have. What to bring has the full list, and what happens at a headache clinic covers the hour itself.

If the headache is sudden and severe, or comes with weakness, confusion or a stiff neck, do not drive across the county for an appointment. When to go to the ER.
